Overpronation insoles vary in rigidity, length, cushioning and arch shape. Some provide firm control around the heel and arch, while others balance moderate support with greater flexibility and shock absorption.
Firm Control Orthotic Insoles
A rigid or semi-rigid structure beneath the heel and arch helps the insole resist flattening under body weight. This creates a firmer platform and may help limit excessive inward movement more effectively than cushioning alone.
Many orthotic designs include raised support along the inner arch and a shaped heel cup to improve rearfoot stability. They should feel supportive without forcing the foot into an uncomfortable position.

Flat feet are common during childhood and usually require no treatment when they are painless and do not interfere with walking or activity. A growing child’s footwear and insoles should also be checked regularly for fit.
